Who is Eligible?

Are You Eligible for VA Burial Benefits?


Burial benefits are available to honorably discharged Veterans, their spouses, and dependents. You may qualify if:

  • You served on active duty (not just training)

  • You are a Reservist or National Guard member eligible for retired pay

  • You are the spouse or dependent of a qualifying Veteran

  • You served in NOAA, PHS, or as a WWII Merchant Mariner

Documents required to apply:

  • Veteran’s DD214 (discharge papers)

  • Death certificate (If deceased)

Presidential Memorial Certificates – A Tribute of Honor


The VA provides engraved paper certificates, signed by the current President, to honor the memory of eligible deceased Veterans. Family members and friends may request one or more certificates at no cost.
